What is MyUNC? |
MyUNC is the campus Web portal provided for use by all UNC students. MyUNC is currently in the developmental phase with a student's financial aid information being one of the first campus services to be accessible using the portal. As the campus portal project progresses, more of a student's personal campus services will become accessible via the portal. At this time, students should visit the pre-portal site, Student Central, to access other campus service information (e.g., Registrar's, Cashier's, Housing, etc.)

How do I access my financial aid information at MyUNC? |
|
In order to log into MyUNC, you must have both an ONYEN and password. An ONYEN and random password are assigned to each student by the University. Any student, new or returning, who has not previously received notification of an assigned ONYEN and password OR who has not previously requested the creation of an ONYEN and password, will receive your ONYEN and random password from our Office via postal mail when either your financial aid award has been made and is ready for your viewing OR if additional information is required from you before your financial aid award decision can be made.
Students who do not have an ONYEN and password, but who wish to visit MyUNC before receiving ONYEN information from our Office can also visit the UNC ONYEN page to create and manage your ONYEN online.
Once you have obtained (or created) your ONYEN and password, to navigate to your financial aid information at MyUNC:
- Visit my.unc.edu. (Note that a link to MyUNC is also available from the top menu of the UNC homepage.)
- From the MyUNC homepage, click the link Login to MyUNC.
- On the UNC Single Sign-On screen, enter your ONYEN and password and click the Login button.
- On your personal MyUNC homepage, click the Student tab.
- From the Student homepage, click the Financial Aid tab.

Now that there's MyUNC, do I still need to visit Student Central? |
Yes. Until other campus services are available via MyUNC, you will need to access Student Central for all of your campus service information except financial aid. Under registration services, you will be able to view and update your permanent, local, and next of kin addresses. When registration lines are open, students can register for classes, check their academic eligibility, view any stops they might have, search for course availability, view grades, see their schedule, check the progress of their degree application, update their privacy flags, and change their PAC (personal access code). Students are able to view their account history in the cashier’s services section and to see the preference they’ve indicated for receiving their refund checks for student aid funds.

Should I visit MyUNC and Student Central often? |
|
MyUNC and Student Central provide very useful services to students. They offer the student information-gathering flexibility since many campus offices are not open past 5pm weekdays and are closed on weekends. Students can instantly view the status of registration and financial aid. Billing statements are available immediately instead of having to contact the University Cashier. Logging onto these sites is simple since a student can use his/her ONYEN and password to gain access.
As always, however, if you still have questions about your financial aid after visiting this site and MyUNC, you are welcome to call our Office at 919-962-8396 to speak with a staff member. Our phone lines are open from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.
